We in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics are proud to highlight the academic journey and achievements of Deepak Bastola, a dedicated scholar and passionate advocate for mathematics education.
Deepak completed his Master's in Mathematics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2014. With a strong commitment to nurturing mathematical talent, he founded the Mathematical Association of Nepal and served as its President. Under his leadership, he played a pivotal role in initiating Nepal's participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), serving as team leader from 2017 to 2022.
After over a decade of teaching mathematics, Deepak pursued further academic excellence by joining Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Fall 2022 for a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Statistics. Along the way, he also earned a Master’s in Mathematics (Biostatistics) in May 2025. Currently, he is conducting research in Applied Statistics and Machine Learning under the supervision of Professor Yang Li.
