The Department of Mathematical Sciences hosted its ninth annual Middle School Math Day on Saturday, November 17, 2018 with nearly 120 middle school students from grades 6-8 in attendance.
The program began with the AMC 8 Competition (American Math Competition), which consisted of a 40-minute test. The contest is sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America.
Students participated in a math trivia challenge and team contest hosted by Dr. Tomas Schonbek.
High scoring students are invited to compete in the AMC 10 contest in February 2019.
Dr. William Hahn, the department’s newest faculty member, served as keynote speaker for the event, discussing "Self-driving Cars and the Future of Medicine." Read more here...
