Mathematical Sciences Colloquium

On Friday, March 31, at 4:00 p.m. in PS 109,

Robert L. Devaney, Ph.D.
(Boston University)

will speak about

Cantor and Sierpinski, Julia and Fatou: Crazy Topology in Complex Dynamics

Abstract:  In this talk, we shall describe some of the rich (and crazy) topological structures that arise as Julia sets of certain complex functions including the exponential and rational maps. These objects include Cantor bouquets, indecomposable continua, and Sierpinski curves.

Everyone is welcome!
