Topics covered include construction of probability measures, random variables, distributions, expectation and integration, independence, product measures, and laws of large numbers.
(Sections 2-5, 10-18, 20-22 of the textbook.)
Prerequisites: STA 4442 or 4443.
Monday, October 17, in class. Closed book exam.
Monday, December 5, 1:15-3:45 pm, in SE 215. Closed book exam.
There will be about six homework assignments. These will involve using methods presented in class to solve problems from the textbook. Assignments should be handed in on the due date. Late assignments will not be accepted.
Grading will be based on the following weighting:
30% Midterm exam
