Tomodachi Judo Club Tournament Checklist
Equipment
- Mats:
- One mat area (8m by 8m, with 3m border):
28 red 1m by 1m, and 168 green 1m by 1m
- Two mat areas (8m by 8m each, with 3m border and 4m between):
56 red 1m by 1m and 308 green 1m by 1m
- Tables (one per mat area):
- Scoreboard and numbered cards to show score
- Three red belts for competitors
- Three stopwatches (and batteries): mat time, osaekomi time, spare
- Two pieces of carpet for judges' chairs
- Two judges' chairs
- Four workers' chairs: captain/match sheets, scorer, match timer, osaekomi timer
- Three sets of red flags and three sets of white flags
(Larger tournaments: blue and yellow flags also)
- Storage areas for the above
- Clean-up supplies:
- Bleach for disinfecting blood on mats/judogis
- Paper towels
Preparation
- Truck for mat transportation
- Workers for mat transportation and setup
- Paramedic
- Medals or trophies for individual competitors
For our local tournaments, we expect 100 to 120 competitors, so we try have about 50 gold, 50 silver, 50 bronze. We keep the divisions small so that most of the competitors go home with an award. They obviously put effort into coming and competing.)

Labels/stickers for individual awards (name/date of tournament)
- Team trophies: first second third place.
We reward a combination of number of competitors and placings. Five points for each first place competitor, three for each second, one for each third. Kata competitors earn points too.
- Food for spectators/competitors, workers for food table, equipment for food table

- Food coupons for competitors
