Elizabeth "Lisa" Rogers Layon, 35 years old, of
Boynton Beach, Florida, died on Tuesday,
February 26, 2002 following a sudden illness.
Born in Evanston, Illinois and raised in Glen
Ellyn, Illinois, she was a resident of the Palm
Beach area since 1996 and worked as a
Litigation Partner with the Law Firm of
Ackerman, Link, and Sartory in West Palm
Beach, Fl. Lisa was a graduate of Glenbard High
School in Glen Ellen, IL, where she was the
Valedictorian, Class of 1984. Lisa graduated with
honors from the University of Chicago, where she
earned both an Undergraduate Degree and her
Law Degree. She was a member of the Florida
Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association
as well as the Palm Beach County Bar
Association; and served as a member of the
American Inns of Court. Lisa was widely
recognized for her role as "the counselor" on the
Mo and Sally Prime Time Radio Program; and
was an active member of Leadership Palm
Beach County. In addition to her kindness, Lisa
was known for her support of Civic Charities,
particularly those involving women's issues and
conservation of the earth's resources. A
nationally ranked Judo Champion, Master Diver,
and Triathlete, her memberships include the U.S.
Judo Association; USA Judo; the Tomodachi
Judo Club of Boynton Beach, FL; the
Professional Association of Dive Instructors
(PADI); and the Divers Alert Network (DAN). Lisa
was a Medallist at the 2000 International Judo
Cup Championships as well as a Medallist at the
2001 U.S. Judo Championships.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas A.
Layon of the Layon, Cronin, & Kaiser Law Firm
in Tulsa, OK; two stepdaughters, Briana and Erin
Layon of Tulsa, OK; parents, Floyd and
Elizabeth (Betsy) Rogers of Glen Ellyn, IL; and a
sister, Rebecca Rogers Ackermann and her
husband Kurt of Cape Town, South Africa.
Additional survivors include a paternal
grandmother, Mary Arawana Rogers of
Warrenville, IL: and many aunts, uncles and
cousins.
